The Dhow Palace is an old name amongst the Stone Town hotel. Loacted in the Shanghani area of Zanzibar Stone Town this fairly small hotel is tucked away within the maze of Stone Town streets just a short distance from the harbour front.

The hotel is set around a cool indoor courtyard with a fountain and has just been given a fresh renovation. It is well run and decorated with authentic Zanzibari antiques, and similar in style and atmosphere to its sister hotel, the Tembo.

Without the benefit of the sea breeze and views, the Dhow Palace is marginally less expensive than Tembo, but the good rooms are much larger, especially on the second floor, with some beds so tall that they come equipped with steps.The dining room serves only breakfast, notice is required for lunch and dinner.

A good choice for a centrally located hotel in Stone Town. The rooms are basic yet clean and the price is good. Bacially, this hotel is for those on a budget, it is really as simple as that!
