Lake Manyara National Park is a birding paradise (more than 400 species), particularly for waterfowl and migrants, and the forests are famous for lion sightings. Lions hunt on the grassy shores of the Lake, and are known for their habit of climbing and lounging in trees.

The camp consists of ten stilted tree house suites each with en-suite bathroom, outdoor shower and a private game viewing deck overlooking the forest. Each tree house suite features large windows to invite the lush forest inside. The classically elegant rooms are fitted with contemporary furnishings in neutral colours and textures. Bedrooms have overhead fans, mosquito nets and earthy, understated features.

Overlooking a forest boma (outdoor dining area), guest areas are soaring spaces housing Dodoma artworks and tactile fabrics. An interactive kitchen allows guests to observe the preparation of delicious Pan-African cuisine which may be enjoyed in the theatrical boma, on dining decks, or on your private viewing deck with spectacular forest views. Breakfasts and picnics are also served on the lakeshore.

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge – Our view

Of all of the CCAfrica lodges, the Tree Lodge seems to be the one that gets the least recognition. This is probably partly due to the fact that anything less than a 2 night stay here is far too quick. The park also tends not to get the recognition it deserves; this is one of the best places to see a huge array of birds, both migratory and indigenous, vast numbers of elephant as well as some of the more interesting antelope of Africa such as klipspringers. In our view the lodge is actually one of the top 2 or 3 in Tanzania for the levels of service, the wilderness experience (as it is all on its own in the lower regions of the park there are never any other vehicles) and all round luxury. This is really a gem of a lodge, definitely worth paying a visit to if budget can stretch!
