Ruaha River LodgeIt is also built and run by the intriguing Fox family, who have nearly 40 years of experience of Ruaha. The River Lodge was the first camp built in the area, and must take credit for choosing one of the most spectacular locations imaginable. The situation is naturally dramatic, as the lodge extends along the rocky shores of the Great Ruaha River, in an area where there is rarely a view without a dash of wildlife to colour it, especially during the dry months between June and November.
Ruaha River Lodge – The Facts

Swimming pool planned for 2009
Ruaha River Lodge – The Detail
The lodge seems to grow from every rocky outcrop and crevice in ever-evolving winding paths, linking clusters of fairly basic stone and thatch bandas. The lodge has been divided into two distinct areas and guests may require safari vehicle transfers to one of the vast central dining bandas. Food is home-grown, all imported from the Fox family farm in the wonderful highlands around Iringa, presenting simple, wholesome fare. Ruaha River Lodge was completely revamped in 2006 and the new rooms are about 3 times the size of the old rooms
Ruaha River Lodge – Our View
Due to the size of camp, consisting of 20 cottages separated into the above mentioned camp areas, this camp is not quite as intimate as the other camps in Ruaha. However it is well managed and in spots beautiful. The camp tends to play second fiddle to Mwagusi and Jongomero, but it caters to a different budget and is very good value for money.
