Nomad Serengeti Safari Camp – The DetailWhile you can head off from dawn till dusk on your own adventures, the small wandering camp is sociable because its shared - with guests staying in classic bush style. Each luxury tent sits alone on a beautiful patch of Africa, a stroll away from the candlelit canvas mess for safari bonhomie. The bathrooms are en-suite, with traditional safari style bucket showers, short drop toilets, and hot and cold water available on demand. The camp is well equipped, but light and simple. All you have to do is arrive in camp at the end of every dramatic day - tired, wired, and dusty - to hot showers, ice filled gin & tonics, and a roaring campfire. The days end with dinner, stars and a bed tent furnished with all a great adventurer could wish for. Serengeti Safari Camp travels through the Serengeti National Park where the densities of animals and predators are high. The camp will have been positioned before arrival in likely proximity to the predicted path of the migration. Each couple, or group of guests has total flexibility to plan daily activities according to their own interests. A safari that spans the Serengeti Safari Camp, and will assure you of the ultimate Greater Serengeti safari
experience. December to April: the camp is on the southern Serengeti Plains with access to the main herds as they calve through February. Birding is excellent during this time, as is general game viewing. May to Early July: the camps moves to the Moru Kopjes area, central Serengeti Plains, and to the Western Corridor as the mass of the migration moves west and north. The migration patterns can be unpredictable at this time of year, but the wildebeest rut (May) and the crossing of the Grumeti River (June/July) are spectacular if caught. Mid-July to November: the camp moves to the quieter northern Serengeti close to either the Mara or Bologonja Rivers, offering great game viewing and crossings of either of the rivers. Towards late November the camp starts to head south again, arriving on the southern Serengeti Plains around mid-December.
Nomad Serengeti Safari Camp – Our viewNomads have long been setting the standard for the migratory camps in Tanzania and Africa. Originating out of the experience and pioneering spirit of Mark Holdsworth, a legend in guiding in East Africa, the camps are still wonderfully basic in feel and get right into the heart of the wilderness areas. Where people are often put off by the sound of having to use a bush shower, it is better than my shower at home! The real reason for going here, apart from both the food and the experience of being in the bush, is for the guiding which, with private vehicles, is exceptional. These guys, after 20 years or so are still leading the way.
