Robin Pope Safaris Founded in 1986, Robin Pope Safaris operate in the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia. The company is family run, with the infamous safari guide Robin Pope and his wife Jo creating a company well recognised as the most famous brand in Zambia.
Robin Pope runs 3 camps in the Luangwa along with a number of fly camping and mobile trips. Nkwali at the Mfuwe entrance to the South Luangwa is their largest, permanent lodge where as Nsefu and Tena Tena are the famous camps inside the park.
Nkwali is located on Robin's private land, overlooking the South Luangwa National Park. The land is superb game viewing country, with a beautiful area of ebony woodland and open grass plains. Elephants often cross the Luangwa, seen from the bar, or come to the waterhole near the thatched dining room. The chalets are cool and spacious and the location puts you in the perfect location to game drive in one of the most productive parts of the park.
Tena Tena lies on a high bank on the edge of the Luangwa river in South Luangwa. The 5 classic safari tents face away from the river leaving the communal areas and a stretch of river bank with the best views. The camp is very spacious creating privacy for each room and more than enough space for guests to relax in their own area of the camp, away from their rooms.
Nsefu has one of the finest views of all, the Luangwa camps. Located on a wide bend in the Luangwa river, the camp is much the same as the old ‘hunting lodge’ it was set up as so long ago. The main areas and all the rooms are set back from the river bank but all face the river with spectacular views. The rooms are thatched rondavels with decking areas and en suite bathrooms, each beautifully decorated inside.
