Located in Nungwi, Northern Zanzibar, the Z Hotel now occupies the area that over the last 10 years has been made famous by Zanzibar’s backpackers. With a beautiful beach on their doorstop the lodge has a great location for beach lovers but is exceptionally busy in peak season.

The 35 rooms and suites vary in luxury– some containing plasma tvs, SKY TV and four poster beds, culminating in 2 ocean front cottages with private decks over the sea and the 100 sq metre Z suite with 2 terraces and outdoor Jacuzzi.

The 2 restaurants have a range of different dishes from Tapas to local fish a la carte diving, accompanied by a superb cocktail menu.There are also a number of water activities available at our dive centre where guests can also acquire their padi qualifications (the famous Mnemba atoll is easily reached)

The Z Hotel – Our view

Great beach, one of the best on the whole island. However Nungwi is the busiest area (by far) of anywhere on Zanzibar and the Z Hotel is right in the thick of it all. In a nutshell, the hotel has impressive standards but caters for young party loving professionals – it is a smart hotel in a busy, lively area – certainly not for a relaxed honeymoon couple trying to escape the crowds, but if you are looking for a taste of nightlife towards then end of your trip then why not.
