Don't go without the 2nd Edition Cadogan Guide to Tanzania and Zanzibar - writen by Annie - one of our consultants

A guide to your Zambia Safari

What is it that makes a Zambia Safari just so good? The answer is simply the sheer quality of guiding and the excellent walking safari. Couple this with a massive density of free ranging game in a number of truly unique and varied destinations and you have Africa's top safari destination.

Below is a brief overview of each of the countries safari parks and an introduction as to why Zambia Safari Parks, for safari connoisseurs, are as good as it gets!

South Luangwa National Park

A truly superb park recognized as one of Africa’s finest. Sheer beauty coupled with vast concentrations of big game and great birding. Heavy concentrations of lion and especially leopard make this Zambia’s predator enclave. This is the leopard capital of Africa.

Kafue National Park

Zambia’s oldest and largest safari park. About the size of Wales it is an excellent area for big game and hosts the greatest diversity of antelope in Africa. New camps have recently opened up in the North making the park a firm part of the luxury Zambia Safari circuit; the Busanga Plains is one of the best safari areas in Africa, let alone for a Zambia Safari.

Lower Zambezi National Park

Trapped between the Zambezi and a mountain range, the Lower Zambezi is simply stunning; Safari in Zambia does not get more beautiful than this! With the diversity of safari options that it offers, so close to Lusaka, this is an incredible park.

Livingstone and Victoria Falls

At 1.7kms wide the Falls are the largest curtain of falling water on the planet and are truly beautiful. Although the towns on either side are busy, there is a way to stay away from the crowds.

North Luangwa National Park

A safari park focused solely on walking safari. Superb wilderness, no major roads and some great bushcamps with impressive game make this a Zambia Safari lovers paradise; truly a park for the connoisseur.

Liuwa Plains National Park

Safari in this remote part of Western Zambia is all that Zambia safari is cranked up to be. With not one permanent camp this is for hardened Zambia safari enthusiast; massive Wildebeest migration and good predators.

Lochinvar National Park

Not abundant in larger mammals, Lochinvar is a great park for birds in an area of outstanding natural beauty. On the southern edge of the Kafue Flats, it is particularly well known for the large herds of Kafue lechwe, unique to the Kafue flats. Again, a real enthusiasts destination!
