Kirurumu Tarangire

Kirurumu Tarangire is first of five Kirurumu branded camps that together form a complete Northern Circuit. The Tarangire gate is just a 15 minute drive away so it’s ideal for those doing an all-driven safari on a budget.

Kirurumu Tarangire

Although the camp is outside the park proper, it sits next to a flood plain that attracts animals throughout the dry season. It is not uncommon to have animals in and around the camp which is an important asset given the slightly un-remote location. It’s a ten minute drive down a dirt road off the main, tarmac road that leads from Arusha into Tarangire. Once inside the park this is the busiest area but, because the camp is close to the gate, you can drive a bit further into Tarangire than most of the crowds.

Being a Kirurumu camp essentially means a good camp with clean, tasteful rooms, friendly staff, attentive guiding for an excellent price and Kirurumu Tarangire follows this pattern. The main selling point is that, unlike competitors such as Maramboi, it does not sacrifice size for cost. The ten tented room with thatched sit on permanent concrete slabs, keeping things cool in summer. Being outside of the park means slightly more creature comforts with proper showers, twin sinks, internet access in the main area and 24 hour electricity.

The camp offers walks, both short wanders and full day hikes as well as mountain biking for those who fancy a different type of safari.

Kirurumu Tarangire is a great camp for those wanting shorter drives between areas as part of their Northern Circuit and for those on a budget.
