CAMEROUN- HISTORY
 
Prior to colonisation the south and east of the country were inhabited by Bantu people who were organised along patrilinear or matrilinear lines.
 

 
CAMEROUN- LANGUAGE
 
The official languages are French and English, but English is rarely heard - only in larger towns and in the far west of the country.
 

 
CAMEROUN- PARKS
 
Kimbi River Game Reserve
Wooded grassland and riverine habitats. Access by road from Bamenda. No accommodation available. Animals living in the reserve include antelope, buffalo, waterbuck and a variety of birds.

Mouanko Reserve.
Access by road from Douala. No accommodation in the park.

Parc National de Bouba Ndjida
Dense scrub and wooded grassland. Access by road from Tchollire. Basic accommodation available. Animals living in the park include buffalo, elephant, eland, lion, rhinoceros and many species of birds.

Parc National de la Benoue
Savanna, forest and riverine habitats. Access by road from Ngaoundere. Open all year round. Comfortable accommodation available. Animals living in the park include buffalo, crocodile, elephant, eland, hartebeest, hippopotamus, lion, reedbuck, waterbuck

Parc National de Kalamaloue
Animals living in the park include crocodile, elan, elephant, giraffe and a variety of birds.

Parc National du Korup
Equatorial rain forest. At the time of writing, there is no proper access to this park which was formed fairly recently in 1986 and is directly across the border from the Nigerian Oban Rain forest National Park.

Reserve de Campo
Access by road from Kribi. No accommodation in the park.

Reserve du Dja
Access by road from Yaounde. No accommodation in the park.

Reserve du Faro
Scrub bush and wooded mountain slopes. Very difficult access, not currently in use. Animals living in the park include buffalo, elephant and a wide variety of birds.

Waza National Park
Access by road from Maroua. Comfortable lodge accommodation. Animals living in the park include antelope, elephant, gazelle, giraffe, hippopotamus, ostrich, lion. Wide variety of birds.
