Parc National du Djoudj
Riverine habitat on the Senegal River. Access by road from St Louis. Open all year round. Reasonable accommodation or camping available. Viewing by foot, vehicle or pirogue (canoe). Important resting place for migratory birds, over 300 species recorded.
Parc National de la Basse Casamance
Forest, open savannah, mud banks and mangrove swamp. Access by road from Oussouye. Open all year round. Camping accommodation available. Animals living in the park include buffalo, bushbuck, duiker, hyena, mongoose, monkey, porcupine and a wide variety of birds.
Parc Nationale de la Langue de Barbarie
Access by road from St Louis. No accommodation in the park. Prolific birdlife.
Parc National du Niokolo-Koba
Savannah and woodland. Access form Tambacounda by road. Best time to visit is between December and May. Basic accommodation available. Animals living in the park include antelope, baboon, bushbuck, buffalo, civet, cob, crocodile, dik dik, elephant, hartebeest, hippopotamus, kob, lion, porcupine, vervet monkey, warthog, waterbuck and a variety of birds.
Parc National de Sine Saloum
Island and riverbank habitats. Access by road from Dakar or Banjul, Gambia. Open all year round. Camping accommodation available. Animals living in the park include Colobus monkey and a wide variety of birds.
