PRIVATE HOLIDAY INTO THE WARM HEART OF AFRICA


The following private safari is hosted by a professional guide and represents a good general itinerary to view all that Malawi has to offer using small resthouses, private houses and National Park restcamps. The safari covers nearly 2500 kms.
Day 01: Depart from London Gatwick on the Air Zimbabwe overnight flight to Harare.
Day 02: Morning arrival into Harare and onward connection to Lilongwe. Connect here with your internal flight to Blantyre where you are met by your guide/s. Depart on safari, driving to MT. MULANJE where two nights are spent at the Likhubula Resthouse. The second Day is spent exploring the lower slopes of the mountain on foot (full board)
Day 04: Morning departure for the drive to LIWONDE NATIONAL PARK where two full Days spent exploring the park by vehicle, on foot or by boat. Overnights at Mvuu Camp. Game-viewing and bird watching are excellent (full board).
Day 06: From Liwonde, drive north to the shores of LAKE MALAWI at Cape Maclear. Two nights are spent here in a private house. Days at leisure to snorkel in the National Park, or undertake further watersport activities (full board).
Day 08 and Day 09 : These two nights are spent moving northwards along the edge of the lakeshore, stopping at attractive fishing villages and markets on the way. Overnights will be at either Senga Bay, Dwangwa, Chintechi Bay or Nkhata Bay, staying at private homes or small hotels (full board).
Day 10 : Ascend almost 2000 metres from the lake through plantations to Mzuzu where a stop is made for supplies. Continue westwards through miombo woodland to VWAZA MARSH GAME RESERVE where two nights are spent at the camp. Game-viewing in the reserve by vehicle and on foot (full board).
Day 12 : Morning departure driving north to the rolling grasslands of the NYIKA PLATEAU where three nights are spent at the National Parks Restcamp, Chelinda. Excellent opportunity to see herds of eland, roan antelope, as well as reedbuck, zebra and klipspringer. Days are spent birdwatching, or exploring the region on foot, visiting the Jalawe Valley and Chisanga Falls (full board).
Day 15: Departing Nyika, drive south to the VIPHYA MOUNTAINS where you overnight in the Kasito Forestry resthouse, amongst the largest pine plantation in Africa (full board).
Day 16 : A final drive south to Lilongwe, where you arrive in time for your return flight to Harare. On arrival, you are met and transferred to the Meikles Hotel where you have the use of a Dayroom prior to your return Air Zimbabwe overnight flight to London.
Day 17 : Early morning arrival into Gatwick
Includes international flights on Air Zimbabwe (economy); internal flight; services of guides; all safari transport; twin/single accommodation on full board basis; excursions; U.K. airport tax.
Excludes travel insurance, items of a personal nature; gratuities; drinks and laundry; park fees of US$80.00 per person (which needs to be carried in cash).
