Ikuka’s Rock House
Luxurious, owner-run and with jaw-dropping views, Ikuka is one of our favourite camps in Tanzania, and now there is something for everyone to get very excited about.
Introducing Ikuka’s latest addition: the sleepout rock house.
Located only ten minutes from main camp, the Rock House offers the perfect combination of a treehouse and sleep-out experience. Situated between two impressive boulders, the wooden deck is home to a cosy bed, bathroom and sitting area. Views across the Baobab dotted Ruaha landscape are unrivalled, and the sense of tranquillity and peacefulness is something that cannot be understated in today’s world.
The bed sits within a mesh cube that can be zipped up whilst inside, a mini bar cool-box will allow you to quench your thirst whenever needed and the bucket shower offers an authentic safari washing experience.
Perfectly positioned for sundowners, and a candlelit dinner under the stars, the Rock House offers an incredibly romantic and adventurous night in the wilderness. Bookable between June and October, this time of year sees peak game viewing in the park as well as those perfectly clear night skies for star gazing.
Keeping your room at the main camp for the same night also means you do not have to move luggage and should you wish to return to camp, your room will be ready whenever you are.
With guest safety in mind, the area will be patrolled by a guard who will be contactable by radio during your stay.
Accommodating one or two guests, the Rock House is a perfect addition to any safari and must be pre-booked. For honeymooners this experience combines perfectly with the Ikuka honeymoon suite which comes with its own private plunge pool.
If you have any questions about Ikuka’s newest addition or a Tanzania safari in general, make sure you contact one of our Africa experts who will be more than happy to talk through the different options.
