Selous and Mafia Itinerary

Days 1-3: Zanzibar's Stone Town
Fly from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar, where you are met on arrival and transferred to the Serena Inn in Zanzibar's historic Stone Town.
These days are left free for you to explore the fascinating old Stone Town, and perhaps take one of the exciting excursions on offer; visit Prison Island to see the ruins and the giant sea turtles, pay a visit to nearby spice plantations, or explore the narrow streets of the town to see Livingstone's house and the old Slave Market. Perhaps take a trip to Jozani forest to see the orchids and indigenous red colobus monkeys.
Overnight at the Serena Inn - Stone Town's only 5 star hotel.

Days 4-6: The Selous Game Reserve
A short flight from Dar es Salaam brings you to the lush riverine wilderness of the Selous, and a range of tributaries, woodlands and grass plains to explore by boat, on foot or in open sided safari vehicles.
You are met and transferred to Selous Safari Camp, where you will spend your first four days enjoying the different types of safari available. The lodge is situated on the banks of a river with fantastic views of surrounding wildlife, and provides delightful accommodation in large permanent tents with private verandas where guests can relax and appreciate the superb setting. There is a refreshing swimming pool to enjoy after a hot safari and an elegant stilted restaurant from which to enjoy excellent candlelit dinners.

Days 7-13: Kinasi Lodge, Mafia Island
After a short flying transfer you will be met at the airport and driven to the island hideaaway of Kinasi Lodge on Mafia Island.
Mafia is an archipelago of islands, sandbanks and coral reefs surrounded by the clear and tranquil waters of the Indian Ocean. From the luxury of the lodge you will enjoy days out exploring the coves and reefs beneath the billowing sails of traditional wooden dhows, and diving and snorkelling in the pristine waters of the Indian Ocean.
