We are the tanzania experts

TANZANIA ODYSSEY: THE EXPERT TANZANIA HOLIDAY TOUR OPERATOR

We have been creating tailor-made itineraries to Tanzania Africa for discerning travellers since 1998. Our expertise speaks for itself:  Marc Harris, our MD, is a judge of the Safari Awards and a former director of the African Travel and Tourism Association (ATTA). One of our directors, Annabel Skinner, wrote the Cadogan Guide to Tanzania. Our team travel extensively in Tanzania and Zanzibar every year, so our advice and guidance is always up to date. We are proud to be the recipient of numerous travel awards - most recently Best Safari, Wildlife & Nature Holiday Company from the British Travel Awards - and our ATOL bond ensures that you are financially protected at all times.

We know what it takes to design the perfect Tanzania itinerary, considering all of your preferences, budget and dates. We also know that the vast array of world class safari experiences in Tanzania invariably come with complicated logistics – it is not an easy country to get to grips with, let alone book. However, with our Tanzania Odyssey expertise it becomes very easy. See our glowing Trustpilot reviews if you are not convinced!

Therefore, the best way to understand Tanzania as a holiday destination is to phone or email us, or, if you are in London, we would love to see you for a coffee and a chat about your plans. Come and see us at 5 The Mews, 6 Putney Common, London, SW15 1HL, call us on UK +44 (0) 20 8704 1216 or US +1 866 356 4691, or email [email protected].

DIRECT PRICE GUARANTEE

A common misconception is that a tailormade itinerary will cost more than booking your accommodation and transport direct - but this is simply not true! Booking through us costs no more - and often considerably less - than booking the same trip directly with all the individual suppliers. Our 20 years of experience organising Tanzania safaris allow us to negotiate excellent rates with our suppliers, resulting in a savings for you. In the very unlikely event that you get a cheaper quote for the same trip from a reputable UK or US bonded tour operator, we will match that quote. We will always strive to make your trip as cost-effective as possible without compromising on quality.

A TOURIST GUIDE TO TANZANIA - BY THE EXPERT TANZANIA SAFARI TOUR OPERATORS

Our extensive website has everything you need to start researching a Tanzania Safari or Tanzania Holiday. All the pages are written by us, including our impressions and opinions; however, although we try to make our website as useful and informative as possible, it is always best to speak directly to one of our Tanzania experts who can help you make sense of it all. As with any destination, things change, and the excellent deals we get from our suppliers vary from week to week, which means your best source of information and recommendations will always be our in the know, expert team.

We have created a handy tourist guide to Tanzania which you can download, and see below for a brief overview of what a Tanzania holiday has to offer, why you should go to Tanzania, and how experts here at Tanzania Odyssey can craft an itinerary to suit your specialist interests and requirements.

All about Tanzania: Why go on a Tanzania Holiday?

  • Tanzania has Africa's most famous National Park, the Serengeti, which is home to the unique Great Migration of many millions of animals each year, surpassing the wildest of safari expectations.
  • You could avoid the crowds by travelling to Tanzania's wild and authentic southern safari lands, Selous and Ruaha, or go really remote and sit among the chimpanzees in the forests of the Mahale Mountains.
  • Whether you want to dive and snorkel or just flop on the sand, Tanzania has a beach that is just right for you; on the mainland coast, on Zanzibar, or on one of the smaller surrounding islands.
  • Tanzania has the continent's most unique scenes. The great volcanic bowl of The Ngorongoro Crater is scenically stunning and a fabulous spot for wildlife viewing, and for a different perspective, climb the majestic snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro – the highest peak on the continent and the rooftop of Africa.
  • Tanzania offers world-class wildlife viewing including all of  ‘the Big Five’ (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo). There are plenty of predators and a variety of excellent protected parks and reserves, all with easy access of glorious Indian Ocean Beaches.

  • Specialist Tanzania Safaris with the Tanzania Odyssey experts

    • Tanzania Honeymoons: Tanzania is one of few countries in which you can easily combine a world class safari with a magnificent beach. Please do ask us for the best honeymoon deals at the most romantic lodges and beach hotels across the country.
    • Tanzania Family Safari Holidays: Tanzania's Southern Circuit is amazing for families - there is so much going on; including boat safaris, walking safaris and night drives. Please get in touch for our favourite family picks from around the country.
    • The Great Wildebeest Migration: When two million wildebeest and zebra move across the dramatic acacia-dotted Serengeti plains in their continuous search for green pastures; it is truly spectacular. See our Great Migration Guide for the low-down of which route the wildebeest really take, as opposed to what you may commonly hear! There are many misconceptions about the path of the Great Migration, and we aim to clear up this confusion, to give our clients the best possible chance of witnessing the big herds.

When to go on a Tanzania Safari and Beach Holiday

The majority of Tanzania's wildlife is resident year-round, so game viewing is great throughout the year. However, April and May can be rainy and are probably best avoided - especially if you are also planning time on the beach. Generally, the best time for dry-season wildlife viewing is from July – October. However, The Great Migration in the Serengeti is exceptional in February, as this is calving season, so there are definitely exceptions to this rule...
