Pole Pole It is a new option for Mafia Island visitors, providing Italian-managed accommodation in just a couple of very fine wooden cabins on stilts. These are immaculately comfortable with a certain swiss chalet atmosphere, and each have wide, elegant balconies overlooking the Chole Channel.
The dining area is also wood decking, raised on stilts near the waters edge, and cooking is reputedly fine. Pole Pole (slowly slowly in Swahili), is what this place is all about; relax and take things slowly, in African time. The lodge is so small that it might be a good choice for a couple of couples, who would practically have the run of the place. They have boats for trips, snorkelling and fishing, but no diving facilities. There are very simple beach bandas along the waterfront without en-suite bathrooms for a better price.

At 1200 and 35 degrees, when the tides out and I cant swim...Build a pool, please!!! We have been saying it for years but still, no pool. It would otherwise be such a great little lodge.
