About Us
We are a close-knit, focused and resourceful team; each selected on the basis of our excellent safari knowledge and Africa connections. We are all dedicated to ensuring that out clients receive the very highest quality service, and get great satisfaction from devising excellent itineraries, to suit all budgets.
We provide our clients with travel back-up at all times, 24 hours a day, throughout the year. Have a look at some of our recent clients’ happy testimonials. These are illustrative of our clients’ experiences, although we can also regale you with horror stories of those who do not travel with properly bonded and established agents.
We are the only operator to have written and updated a highly regarded guidebook to Tanzania and Zanzibar, the Cadogan Guide, and to have undertaken all the detailed years of research that this entails.
Each of our consultants travels to Tanzania and the best safari locations at least twice a year, on holidays or fact-finding trips. Our common thread is that we all know Tanzania backwards, and, as a result of client demand, each consultant has an additional country to their portfolio of expertise.
What We Offer
Our market position as long-term leaders in Tanzania has earned us great commission with every individual lodge, and we are able to provide our clients with the best, rack-rate itineraries.
Unlike some disreputable operators, we do not charge any mark-up on our itineraries, and, in this current climate, there are some operators so desperate as to be under-selling trips in a bid to stay afloat. We have been around long enough to have survived recessions before, and our ATOL and ATTA associations have meant that we have to pick up the pieces of those who have gone under.
Tanzania Odyssey are ATOL bonded, fully-affiliated and provide our clients with a responsible, comprehensive service of care. Our MD is also a director of the African Travel and Tourism Association, now celebrating its 25th year.
Who We Are
Marc Harris, MD of Tanzania Odyssey is also a Director of ATTA, (The African Travel and Tourism Association), and is a grizzled guru in the world of African Safaris.
Marc started Africa Archipelago in 1996, arranging safaris throughout East and Southern Africa, but began to specialise in then lesser-known Tanzania itineraries. This led to the creation of Tanzania Odyssey in 2000, a focused, specialist company providing the very best itineraries and safari support in Tanzania.
Annabel Skinner spent many years writing travel articles about African safaris and adventures before being commissioned to write and recently update the Cadogan Guide to Tanzania, now in its second edition. She continues to update our information and remains one of the most knowledgeable in her field.
Julian Carter-Manning has been just about everywhere in East and Southern Africa safari country, repeatedly, and, as well as having the latest Tanzania information, he also arranges itineraries in southern Africa. His outstanding knowledge in this region led to the development of Botswana Odyssey and Zambia Odyssey. Julian has great tenacity and a passion for putting together competitively fine itineraries.
Nick French was born and brought up under an African sun, his passion for Africa is innate and his knowledge superb. Nick also has excellent Kenya knowledge, and as a result has since developed a fabulous spectrum of itineraries in Kenya for Kenya Odyssey.
Tom McGairl continues to favour itineraries combining safari and beach within Tanzania. A great and cheerful explorer.
Ed Davison is our head IT guru and web-support master. He naturally took his honeymoon in Tanzania, and while he may not undertake to book you an itinerary, even he is keen to offer an opinion!
All of us are very happy to talk! The best method of safari planning is to come in, meet the team and discuss your options.
