Chada This is situated in the core of the Katavi National Park, in western Tanzania, and is reputed to be one of the wildest places on earth. From its elevated vantage point on a peninsula that rises out of the miombo woodland, the camp is perfectly positioned for panoramic views over the Chada plain. Filling the floor of the Rukwa Valley - a minor fault of the western rift - Katavi National Park spans over a million acres.
Katavi belongs to the animals. You are their guest. Chadas humble nod of recognition to its hosts is evident in the accommodation consisting of spacious safari tents, a blend of brown canvas, leather & brass, camouflaged against a thicket of tall trees. The canopy of acacias, kigelias and tamarinds are a popular source of shade and food for abundant bird and animal life, creating fantastic game viewing opportunities almost without having to leave your tent. The main camp sits on the edge of the wide Chada floodplain, a Mecca for game. From a distance, the camp is invisible against the browns and golds of the surrounding bush. Although supremely comfortable, the camp neither intrudes upon nor detracts from the majesty of the place itself. The eight side-opening tents seem a mere speck against the endless expanses. Private bathrooms are set right behind each tent and can be connected to the main tent quickly & easily if required. Invoking the style of the great campaigns. Chada is filled with weathered maps, old books, telescopes and leather-backed chairs. Your quarters in this great wilderness will not be so different from those of the earliest explorers, who also slept beneath canvas and listened to sounds that remain undiminished by time. Chada remains seen by only a small handful of visitors.
Chada – Tanzania Odyssey View
The best (and only) camp in Katavi, a park where herds of 4 thousand plus buffalo roam across plains that extend for miles. Here is some of the least visited land on the earth. We would recommend it to anyone. The best time to visit is during our summer time.
