Olivers Tented Camp This is located in a remote area in the unspoilt wilderness of Tarangire National park in Northern Tanzania. It is a tough drive home, being situated way down in the western reaches, but has an authentic hard-nosed real bush appeal.
The entirety of Olivers Camp is tented, with dining tent, laundry tent and kitchen tent spread out among the rocks and trees. As such the camp does not have much of a central focus, and is perhaps better suited to the determinedly anti-social. Vast and ancient boulders nearby provide a good vantage point for sunset-watchers, and attract admirably agile rock-climbing klipspringer antelope, which are impressively small and quick. There are only 5 rooms in total, all with en-suite facilities, local wooden furniture and great views across the wilderness beyond.
Olivers Tented Camp – Tanzania Odyssey View
With the capability of offering open vehicle game drives, fly camping and foot safaris, Olivers is a great small camp in one of the furthermost reaches of the Park. Taken over in late 2005 by Asilia Lodges, Olivers is yet to really prove itself.....time will tell whether they can make good use of such a great location.
