Sand Rivers Selous It is a smart, permanent camp stylishly designed in chunky dark wood and stone flagstones with views over a wide and dramatically rocky stretch of the Rufiji River thatv runs throught the North of the Selous Game Reserve.
The eight spacious accommodation bandas at Sand River Selous are built on stilts with a shaggy overhanging thatch, each with one side open to the river, giving clear views of the water and sandbanks from a lavishly net-covered bed. The lodge has a congenial old-English colonial atmosphere and a penchant for surprise G&Ts on a scenic hilltop to complete a long walk through the bush, and a taste for safari chic. They are serious about safaris, about tea in the afternoon and candlelit dinners, and provide a very high standard of food, service and guiding. Sand Rivers Selous was started as a base-camp for walking safaris and continues to offer extended fly-camping expeditions and fishing safaris.
Sand Rivers Selous – Tanzania Odyssey View
It is a very good camp set on a bend in the Rufiji just down from Steiglers Groge. It is still the best located camp in the park as it has almost private access to the surrounding area, being set away from the other camps. The only drawback with the camp is that it is in need of a bit of TLC, and for the money, we would prefer the Selous Safari Camp or Beho Beho.
