Tamarind Tented Camp Is managed and run by Hoopoe Safari company, providing a high standard of luxury tented camping in the bush just beyond the actual boundaries of the park, approached though fertile fields farmed by surrounding villagers and sitting snugly in a clearing surrounded by dense bush.
It is based in Tarangire and the position allows for night drives outside the park, and cultural excursions to nearby villages, who are co- operating with Hoopoe's conservation partnerships in return for assistance with clean water and medical facilities. This is a good opportunity for couples who cannot extend their budget to experience luxury tented camping for just themselves, although the experience is absolutely authentic as these very tents are frequently dismantled and carted off to the far reaches of the Serengeti. Tents are spacious Larsen tents, each with their own shower and toilet, and comfortable, sturdy wooden beds beneath the ample canvas awning, with one specially designed honeymoon suite. All tents face onto a centralised bar tent; the impressive dining tent contains a long communal table that is sumptuously arrayed each night with remarkable culinary delights prepared by the camp chefs. Alternatively guests can request al fresco meals around the all-important open fire, which burns each night beneath the stars at the camp centre.

A very nice little lodge that offers a good price and therefore great value. However, the camp rests just outside the park and therefore we think suffers from lack of a real bush experience. Splash out in Tarangire as it is worth it!
