Set up by Andrew ‘Moli’ Molinaro and Noelle Herzog, Kichaka Expeditions is one of the newest and exciting camps to open in Tanzania for years. Set up to focus on walking safaris within Ruaha National Park in southern Tanzania taking either private or small group bookings of no more than six guests at any one time, ensuring complete exclusivity in the wilderness.
Kichaka - The Facts
Taking no more than 6 guests at a time, Kichaka ensures complete exclusivity within the wilderness giving you the ability to explore even the most remote areas of Ruaha
. They have had to forgo some of the more extravagant luxuries in favour of mobility and practicality, all your basic ‘creature comforts’ are catered for.
The food is all made on site using only the freshest local produce and is surprisingly very good. The camp does have limited electricity supply for the vital charging of camera batteries and the production of perhaps the most vital comfort of all – ICE. Perfect gin and tonics for sundowners.
You can either take Kichaka as a private option, or be part of a small group, this new popular option, again up to a maximum of six guests and is a highly intimate experience. The itinerary is a little stricter, but it does include fly-camping along the way.
As Kichaka is quite a rudimentary camp, it would be great to mix it with one of Ruaha
’s more luxurious camps like Jongomero, where Moli was once a guide. After a few days of walking through the Ruaha bush with Moli and Noelle, some days relaxing at Jongomero would be a real treat. This is one of the best Tanzanian safaris
you could do.
