This is a fabulous Conservation Corporation Camp in the Western Serengeti, located on the Grumeti River, one of the crossing points of the annual Great Migration. Safaris in this part of the Serengeti can be simply stunning.

About Grumeti

Grumeti River Camp is beautifully crafted in wood, stone and canvas to blend with its bush surroundings. The ten vast double tents were specifically designed to create a light and airy atmosphere, and are each completed with wooden floorboards, dinky wooden bathrooms and wide, hand built beds and fantastic views of the hippo filled Grumeti River.

Each of Grumeti’s tents are set in private surroundings in the bush, a short walk along pathways, lit by kerosene lamps, to the dining room. The communal areas are again made in wood and stone and this includes the dining area which has a central open fire and outdoor pizza oven to incite a healthy appetite and spend nights under the Serengeti skies.

Nearby, the pool is cool and clear and well-tended, and the sounds from the local hippo pool fill the air at night.

As a CCA property, Grumeti has all the high standards that we have come to expect from them. Located in the western corridor area of the Serengeti this lodge has some great guides and is an ideal base from which to view the migration in June and July. Safaris in the Serengeti at this time of year are outrageously good and Grumeti River Camp rightly holds place as one of the best camps in the Serengeti
