Kleins Camp - Our View

This is most probably our preferred camp in the Serengeti as it offers a wide range of safari experiences, including night drives and walking safaris, with superb guides, and since it is just outside the Serengeti Park itself, Kleins gives the chance to avoid the crowds of the Serengeti.

The setting, half way up the side of a valley looking out over the valley floor which is often filled with the Migration, is simply amazing. The area is good for birds and a populous contingent of local elephant, and particularly worth visiting during the months of the migration in late July and October. Safaris at Kleins can be simply fantastic at this time of year.

Kleins Camp - The Facts

  • Just 8 stone and thatch cottages
  • Small swimming pool
  • Fabulous views and atmosphere
  • Thriving private concession, great for night drives and viewing Migration

  • Kleins Camp - The Detail

A further joy of this excellent location is that Kleins is not bound by the rules of the Serengeti, so the few guests in camp at any one time can enjoy night drives and safaris in open-sided vehicles, and walk in the surrounding bush. A tradition encourages all guests to climb the small hill behind the camp each evening, and enjoy immaculately prepared sun-downers at the top, although the views from the central dining and bar area are equally impressive.

The entirety of Kleins Camp is constructed and decorated with solid, good-quality furnishings and inspires a great sense of peace and comfort, enhanced by the knowledge that this is such a great distance from any other sign of civilisation. Accommodation is in eight cosy round cottages built from local stone and thatch, each with richly polished wooden floors and decorated in a classic style with pale nets and linens. There is a small pool for a post-safari dip.
