Migration Tented Camp In the Northern Serengeti finds their immaculately clear swimming pool shining before you like a mirage after a long 93km drive from the Seronera. This attractive permanent tented camp is set in absolute isolation among wide flat rocks and spreading acacia, above a northern branch of the Grumeti River.
Footprints in the mud in front of the tents indicate the nightly grass-mowing activities of local hippopotami and occasionally giraffe can be seen chewing on the bushes in between the tents. This old wooden-stilted camp has recently been taken over and upgraded by the Elewana luxury hotels group, who have refurbished the accommodation with chunky wooden furniture and wrought iron fittings. The old double-storey library and bar and long, low-level dining area remain essentially unchanged, with excellent food being served with spectacular views. All twenty private tents face westwards towards the Serengeti sunset, and are linked by soft pathways lit by gas lamps as darkness falls.
Migration Tented Camp – Tanzania Odyssey View
With its recent upgrade and new tents, the camp has gone from being a poor substitute to Kleins to becoming a real competitor. It is fair to say that the views may be better at Kleins, but the service and feel of the camp, run by Peter and Anita, is now relaxed and intimate. A very good choice for the migration in July and November.
