Nomad Serengeti Safari Camp Nomad Serengeti Safari Camp roam around the entirity of the Greater Serengeti in true nomad fashion. This camp is semi-nomadic - it won’t move whilst you’re there - but its actually on a wide orbit shadowing the migration; so you, your Tanzanian driver-guide and private 4WD vehicle are as close to a million wildebeest as possible.
Guests stay in classic bush style meru tents (6 in total) and each luxury bedtent sits alone on its own patch of Africa. The bathrooms are en-suite, with traditional safari style bucket showers, short drop toilets, and hot and cold water available on demand. The camp is well equipped, but light and simple - late 2007 has seen a brand new library and lounge tent, as well as a new dining tent built. The tents themselves have been replaced with larger models now giving ensuite facilities.
SEASONS - December to April: the camp is on the southern Serengeti Plains with access to the main herds as they calve through February. Birding is excellent during this time, as is general game viewing. May to Early July: the camps moves to the Moru Kopjes area, central Serengeti Plains, and to the Western Corridor as the mass of the migration moves west and north. The migration patterns can be unpredictable at this time of year, but the wildebeest rut (May) and the crossing of the Grumeti River (June/July) are spectacular if caught. Mid-July to November: the camp moves to the quieter northern Serengeti close to either the Mara or Bologonja Rivers, offering great game viewing and crossings of either of the rivers. Towards late November the camp starts to head south again, arriving on the southern Serengeti Plains around mid-December.
Nomad Serengeti Safari Camp - Tanzania Odyssey View Nomad Serengeti Safari Camp is the best mobile outfit in the Serengeti, there is simply no competition! With private guiding (every couple has their own private guide and private vehicle) and only 6 tents in a group they offer exclusivity and ‘real’ safari away from the crowds. This is certainly not a luxury camp but everything you need is catered for, albeit without chandeliers bells and whistles! The camp is light and basic, travelling through the parts of the Serengeti National Park and Ndutu region where the densities of animals and predators are at their highest. Guiding in our view is the best that the Serengeti can offer and for those us who want to get amongst the migration and understand what the words ‘Serengeti’ and ‘safari’ are all about then Nomads cannot be beaten…..you have probably guessed by now, we absolutely love it!!!
