Set in a stunning and characteristically Tarangire, Little Chem Chem is surrounded by imposing Baobab trees, acacia forest with stunning views reaching over the Lake Burunge.
Chem Chem is a luxurious lodge in a beautiful location but it is not for those wanting a pumping safari lodge. It is about taking things slow and seeing another side to safari. Great for the few who have the time and the budget.
Set right next to Tarangire National Park within the Kwakuchinja wildlife migration corridor, home to over 50 species of mammals. Manyara Ranch conservancy is a small permanent tented camp that can offer game drives in both Manyara National Park and Tarangire. The private conservancy is an intimate and undisturbed safari destination, across the lake from Lake Manyara National Park.
Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is one of the most luxurious lodges on the northern circuit, owned and run by &Beyond. Despite the luxury of the lodge it is perhaps one of the least visited, partly due to its location in the quieter area of Lake Manyara and also since Manyara as a destination is overshadowed by the other larger game areas in the north. We think this lodge is great but would recommend at least two nights to make the long drive in worthwhile.
The lodge has an excellent view of the Great Rift Valley from many of the rooms and the bar area. We think this is a good option for those who are lovers of a great view and a slightly bigger lodge style.
Although this is a large lodge, it disguises its size quite well with its spread out design. The little pointy thatched rooms are dotted over a large area creating good space between one another. With only a 20 minute drive to the park, the Lake Manyara Serena is a great option for this area given its access and amazing views. If a tented camp is not your thing or you don’t want to stay in neighbouring Karatu then this is a great choice.
