Although this is a large lodge, it disguises its size quite well with its spread out design. The little pointy thatched rooms are dotted over a large area creating good space between one another. With only a 20 minute drive to the park, the Lake Manyara Serena is a great option for this area given its access and amazing views. If a tented camp is not your thing or you don’t want to stay in neighbouring Karatu then this is a great choice.
Lake Manyara Serena Lodge - The Facts
This lodge is located on the very north tip of Lake Manyara National Park. Not only does it have very good access to the park, but also to the Ngorongoro Crater and Karatu. The lodge is close Manyara airport and has amazing views over the Great Rift Valley.
The main area of the lodge is quite an old design, with character from the first
Manyara safari days. Although it is noticeably dated, it is not tacky or worn. There is a main bar area that dominates a great view point and on the other side is huge infinity pool that falls off the Great Rift Valley down into the park. The restaurant is very open and leads to an indoor bar and reception area scattered with little tables and cushioned chairs.
The rooms are all small thatch units which house two rooms each. These are quite simple, with adequate bathrooms and most of all, good views down to the park.
Activities can be arranged from the reception. There is mounting biking, village tours to Karatu, tribal visits and of course
safari game driving.
