Our View

Perched high on the Manyara escarpment, Mandhari Lodge is all about the incredible views. From each room, you will get sweeping scenes from Lake Natron to the Monduli Mountains below, making for an exceptional base to explore the surrounding area. If you have ample time on safari and are keen to explore the smaller parks of Lake Manyara and Tarangire, you can’t go wrong with this base. Plus, it's excellent value for money.

Mandhari Lodge - The Facts

This lodge is set on a beautiful part of the Great Rift Valley, and the nine glass-fronted suites make the most of the sweeping scenes below. There are six regular suites - with comfortable beds, and a light, airy, no-fuss feel - as well as one honeymoon nest suite and two two-bedroom family suites.

Built with locally sourced materials, the lodge feels authentic and infitting with its wild surroundings. The main area consists of a swimming pool, dining area, reception, lounge and bar. While it’s a fairly compact camp - and intimate as a result - it has everything you need for a relaxing stay. The communal fire pit area adds safari magic to the stay - and it helps that it’s set out right in front of that incredible view, where the lodge is a little set back from the escarpment edge.

Activities-wise, as you’re not in a national park, guests can enjoy a wider array of activities than a classic safari camp might afford. You can use this camp as a base to explore Tarangire National Park from - with a huge number of elephants, and gloriously luscious scenery - as well as Lake Manyara, with its flamingos and watery romance. The Ngorongoro Crater can also be visited from here, which is worth a visit with its huge concentration of big 5 animals, all roaming around this 20-by-20 km volcanic caldera bowl.

As well as the safaris, you can also enjoy cultural experiences and even hiking in the rolling Ngorongoro Highlands, which offer some of the most beautiful vistas in the country. Children of all ages are welcome, but it’s worth checking whether they can enjoy safari outings with you if they’re really young.
