Impala Selous is placed right on the banks of the Rufiji River, in an incredible position for spotting the local inhabitants. It’s not nearly as expensive as its extremely luxurious competitors but very close in terms of service. The raised tents offer every comfort, with two of them being adjoining ‘family’ tents. A very friendly camp, great for children and offering the best of the Selous.
Selous Impala Camp - The Facts
Impala offers an outstanding location on the banks of the Rufiji River amongst the Tamarind trees and Borassa palms. It really is a lovely part of the Selous and offers some spectacular boat trips, and perfect for family Tanzanian safari holidays. It is actually located between two lakes - Mzizimia and Siwandu - which attaract brilliant game, particularly in the dry season.
The main communal area and tents are raised up nice and high to make sure the guests will never miss the river action, and there is plenty to behold! Hippos, crocodile, elephant and buffalo are never far away and that’s just the start. The area is green and lush and the tents are spacious and beautifully arranged.
The rooms are quite simple tents raised on stilts, but they offer everything that you need and want from a genuine safari Lodge (including electricity!) and are very tastefully decorated.
The lodge itself is very welcoming to families and couples alike, with two adjoining family tents and the rest tucked away in complete privacy. Perfect for a
Tanzania family holiday. The swimming pool also offers a lovely afternoon break for those looking to relax in between their chosen daily activities.
The fly-camping is a big attraction to Impala, offering guests the opportunity to spend an adventurous night out in the bush. The walking is also highly regarded and the guides are of an excellent standard. A firm favourite of ours out of all
Selous Safaris.
