Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp Lying in the central Sereonera region of the Serengeti is the 15 tented rooms of Mbuzi Mawe, the Serengeti and Serena's newest Tented Camp.
Very different to all of the other Serena properties, Mbuzi Mawe is a small lodge as opposed to a large hotel designed to fit in more with the authentic safari atmosphere than the larger hotel chains. The Serena's website describes Mbuzi Mawe as 'A place of infinite calm surrounded by untamed majesty.... offering a timeless blend of classical safari rusticity and the world-class professionalism of Serena Safari Lodges, Resorts and Hotels'. We certainly agree; it is about time that the Serena group created something along these lines (although untamed majesty may be slightly over the top). It is however in a superb location, set below a huge granite kopje (outcrop) that towers above the camps and set in an area of the Serengeti that is home to the migration for parts of the year and has superb resident game for the remainder.

A welcome break from the Serena chain and one of the best value small camps around. The 15 rooms however are booked up well in advance so if you want a space dont hang around or you simply do not have a chance.
