Singita Sasakwa Lodge

Sasakwa is Singita’s Tanzania flag ship lodge: one of the most luxurious lodges in Tanzania with some of the most spectacular views in the whole Serengeti.  We love the private infinity plunge pools in each room and the unbelievable stables boasting some of the very best horse back safari in Tanzania.  It’s almost impossible to beat the luxury experience of this lodge with world class cuisine and excellent guiding and service- but it does certainly come at a price!

Singita Sasakwa Lodge - The Facts

Sasakwa is located in the Grumeti Reserve which is a private reserve managed by the Singita with only three of the properties in a vast game area.  Grumeti Reserve is in the western corridor of the Serengeti and best accessed by light aircraft as part of a north Tanzanian safari.
The main area of the lodge is huge and designed on an old hunting lodge - lavish art work hangs on all the walls, sculptures, grand pianos and a selection of different areas to have meals either inside or outside or on the large veranda with the spectacular views.  There is a large infinity pool with one of the most amazing swimming pool views in the world!
The 10 luxurious cottages are spread out along the escarpment with private uninterrupted views of the Serengeti.  Three of the cottages are larger villas with extra bedrooms (and bigger pools)!  The one bed villas are split into two rooms, a large drawing room with comfortable furnishing and French doors towards your pool, the main bedroom with four poster bed and luxurious bathroom. The ideal destination for a honeymoon.
The main activity here is game driving in open sided vehicles in the private reserve, but the lodge also offers walking Serengeti Safaris and also a very impressive horse riding safari experience.  There is also tennis, mountain biking, archery and a well equipped gym.

Sasakwa Lodge - Reviews

The riding is based at Sasakwa but available to guests at all Singita lodges.  It is included in the price (I was very positively surprised by this) and they test your ability before you are able to ride out.  You need to be a pretty decent standard.
Faru Faru food has an Asian fusion touch (we loved this) whereas Sasakwa is more French/fine dining.
Rooms 1-4 have the view of the watering holes and in my opinion are the best (we were room 3).  We saw a baby elephant (which thought it was drowning!) being saved by its mother and the whole herd, whilst eating our lunch, which was remarkable.
A lot of guests were very envious of our direct route to Zanzibar from Faru – thank you for arranging those flights!!
There is no shop (at least not for anything practical).  But…We forgot our sunscreen – don’t worry, they have it and of course you don’t need to pay ;) ! they have thought of everything.
