Our View

The Serengeti Sopa is a large hotel in the central Serengeti. It offers a great location for a stay any stay throughout the year with excellent residential game in the area. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing and the hotel certainly has its following with both the larger group tours and families. However, for the smaller and more intimate trip, while it has a good location set away from the busiest areas of this central area, it can feel a bit busy.

Serengeti Sopa - The Facts

The Serengeti Sopa is located about a 30 minute drive from the Seronera airstrip in the central Serengeti. Seronera is a two hour flight from Arusha and about four hours from Dar es Salaam depending on your route.

Nestled in the acacia woodland on the edge of the escarpment overlooking the plains of the south-western Serengeti National Park the Serengeti Sopa has excellent views of the surrounding plains. It is perfect for the migration from March to July and November to January. A good location for your Tanzania safari.

The main area is split up both indoor and outdoor. Outside is a large pool and bar that look over the Serengeti and indoor is another bar and very large restaurant area. There is a conference centre for the larger corporate groups.

The general atmosphere is one of colourful comfort over homogenised style, with good views from the restaurant and the service is good with the restaurant providing an exceptionally varied range of local foods.

The rooms are located along each side of the communal area. The rooms all have air-conditioning adequate bathrooms and some have balconies.
