Nimali Mara Camp

Composed of just eight tented suites and two honeymoon rooms with private plunge pools, Nimali Mara is more than comfortable; each room is set under canvas with a glass front to make the most of those sweeping Serengeti views, and inside you will find twin showers, stylish basins and a large copper bathtub, with a window that opens up to the plains. The earthy decor in each room is relaxing, and the layout spacious, making the most of the outside world. The main area’s impressive pool is carved out of a natural cave, and also has those gobsmacking views.

While luxury in one of the most predator-dense areas on the planet comes at a price, if you’re set on a relaxing trip here and have already ticked The Great Migration off your bucket list, low season is a brilliant option for opulence in the wild for less.

However, travel here in July to October (and even often the shoulder season months) and your bedroom view could be buzzing with brown specks all the way to the horizon, as the 2 million wildebeest make their way to the Mara River. Now is your opportunity to see the herds hurtling themselves off the riverbanks in groups of hundreds, making for one of the greatest natural spectacles on the planet.

Standard game drives are included, and the lodge also offers bush dinners and beautiful orange-hued Serengeti sundowners, as well as the option to book hot air balloons. Located a 35 minute drive from the Serengeti’s northern airstrip Kogatende, Nimali Mara is wild yet brilliantly convenient.
