Laba Laba Migration Camp brands itself ‘the most luxurious mobile tented camp in the Serengeti’ - and it’s hard to argue with its tagline. With plush furnishings that wouldn’t look out of place in a Mayfair home decor shop and its three Migration-following locations, it’s got luxury, wildlife and quality in abundance. Its starting price of under $1,000 per person per night also means it's not as expensive as some of its luxury tented competitors, either.

Wildebeest Migration. The Serengeti is so big that if seeing the herds is on your bucket list, camp location really is key.

From December 10 to March 31, Laba Laba can be found near the Southern Serengeti Ndutu plains, not far from the Olduvai Gorge - one of the continent’s most important prehistoric sites. As well as getting some serious history in, guests can drive off to see the migration’s calving season in full swing, and spot the predators lurking in the wings.

Camp then moves to the Masabi region of the Western Serengeti from April 8 to July, making the most of this rarely visited region (when compared to the central Seronera hub). From July until the end of November camp is placed in the northern Serengeti region of
Kogatende, with the hope of seeing some mighty Mara river crossings.

Wherever camp is, it’s got the same open-sided layout of the main area, stocked with vintage and historic artefacts and comfortable seating. The 10 tents - including eight doubles and two family tents with interconnecting rooms - have extremely comfortable beds, a sofa and little outdoor veranda.

While there are no swimming pools, there is a gym - not something many tented mobile camps can say! With 55 staff for just 22 guests, the luxury here is in the personalised experience, where delicious healthy food, five star service, and elegant brown, cream and brass furnishings are just an added bonus to the quality safari stay you will get.

Outside of camp guests can also enjoy walking safaris and even hot air balloon rides above the migration. Every party also gets their very own private vehicle - something that’s included in the price here but usually costs a premium additional fee.
