This page is a comprehensive list of all the Tanzania lodges and Zanzibar hotels featured on this website.
It is very hard to rank lodges with one simple measure! But we have tried, and herewith an explanation of our system.
Our ranking is subjective (it is the office consensus, after much arguing), and tries to reflect value for money as well as overall quality. Therefore we may award just three stars to a 'five star' Zanzibar Hotel in the hotel tick-box sense, or five stars to a superb, unashamed 'three star' Tanzania Lodge that consistently provides superb quality experiences for the price. We care a great deal about location, whether in the bush or on the beach, and in many cases this has influenced our choice. It is unorthodox, it may seem at odds with the world view, but we can explain... and we urge you to call us to discuss!
For more information on Tanzania, the best thing to do is to give us a ring for an impartial chat. Although we love Tanzania, we also love the rest of Africa too and have experts in all the main safari countries. If you are undecided as to where to visit, please do just drop us an email or give us a call!

Lemala Kuria Hills - Serengeti, North
Flying to the Serengeti was the best thing that we did, as there was another couple who drove the trip and it took them 11 hours. They looked really beat, even the next morning. Lemala camp was ok but the guide/driver there was useless. I guess our standards were high because of our first driver Daniel. - M Al-Natour

Cost: $1,117
Lemala Nanyukie Central Tanzania - Serengeti, Central
Our View
Having opened in October 2018 in the fabulous Serengeti National Park, Lemala's Nanyukie matches the same great standards of comfort and service as the other properties in Lemala's collection which also includes Kuria Hills in the Kogatende region of the Serengeti, Mpingo Ridge in Tarangire and Hamerkop House in Arusha.Cost: $975
Lemala Ngorongoro Camp - Ngorongoro Crater
Our View
Lemala is well located (though do not be fooled, the views are not into the Crater itself as the camp lies on the other side of the rim looking out into the Conservation area as opposed to into the Crater itself) and does have some game in the surrounding area. Overall it is a quality product and a welcome breath of fresh air around the Ngorongoro rim with it's nice authentic tents, and overall rustic luxury.Cost: $1,047
Lemala Serengeti Camp - Serengeti, Mobile
Our View
Lemala is a great product offering a good tented experience. Lemala Serengeti moves north and south with the migration and the camps have great locations. It's not Alex Walkers Serian but for the very reasonable price nor does it claim to be.Cost: $856
Little Chem Chem - Tarangire
Our View
Set in a stunning and characteristically Tarangire, Little Chem Chem is surrounded by imposing Baobab trees, acacia forest with stunning views reaching over the Lake Burunge.Cost: $1,150
Little Green Camp - Serengeti, Mobile
Our View
As a smaller, simpler version of its sister camp, Little Green Camp provides the possibilities for guests to enjoy the Wayo Green Camp experience all year round. The motto is ‘small in size, but heavy on experience’ and we couldn’t agree more. Whilst Serengeti Green Camp has two locations throughout the year, Little Green Camp has three. The lighter features of the camp allow the extra movement, which sees the camp set up in the central region of the Serengeti between April and July, in between being located in the South and North of the park.Cost: $500
Little Oliver's - Tarangire
How to resume such a great experience...quality of the guide, kindness of the staff, friendly setting, warm, hearty and friendly people, exceptional food... We had such a good time ! - P Simpson

Manyara Green Camp - Lake Manyara
Our View
Lake Manyara is on the surface, the least visited of the Northern Tanzania parks. There’s no Great Wildebeest Migration and no big five, so people often overlook it. Yet, deep in the Southern sector of the park lies one of Tanzania’s most serene, beautiful and tranquil secrets that we insist must be on any wilderness-seeking guest’s itinerary.Cost: $815
